It means that they're more popular for overall chess-related things. Many of the sites don't have a chess-playing facility, so for playing purposes the list and placings are meaningless.

I've also been a member at chess.com for several years, it has lots of stuff that RHP don't have, but its playing setup is pathetic. Maybe it's better if you're using a dinky toy.
