Much of what the GOP sells us to get elected is pure BS, much like Obama lying about ending wars and "fixing" health care so it's cheaper and so we don't have to give up our old health care.
Both party's depend on lying to the American public to force their agenda' ...[text shortened]... vote GOP for hope and change, or will they finally understand its the system and not the party?
Yeah, there's little hope the GOP will push through a radical reactionary agenda to your liking.
Originally posted by whodey No, the federal government needs to be gutted.
States need to rise up and amend the Constitution and limit Congressional terms, force balanced budgets etc. States need to reclaim their rights under the Constitution and return to Federalism.
Funny thing is that the anti-federalists objected to the proposed Constitution on the basis that the general welfare clause and the commerce clause were too open ended and would result in the growth of government and the abuse of power. Were those guys fortune tellers or just realists?
I like Mark Levin's proposal, and surprisingly don't object much to No1's suggestion that such a convention of the States might result in as many as four separate Confederacies reflecting the values and wishes of various populations. Doesn't sound bad to me at all.

What are "traditional American values"? Religious freedom? All men are created equal? Love thy neighbor? The Bill of Rights? All men are equal under the law?

Judging by whodey's posts on this forum, I think "traditional American values" mean a society without an intrusive government. To this end, he wants a government that can tell you by force where to live, who to do business with, where you can travel, can take away your passport without trial, can tell you who you can make contracts with, treats you differently based on your personal views and allows people the freedom to live in squalor under rampant crime and disease without such needless luxuries as education or health care.

Good question. What are American traditional values?
In a world where the majority of people can't remember when abortion was not the law of the land, what are the traditional values?

The difference is that there are Democrats who really are true believers in redistribution and government control of everything.
The opposing Republicans have few that truly believe in smaller government, or who want the redistribution and control but smaller and slower.
The result is a left ward movement even during periods of complete GOP control.

Originally posted by Suzianne This must be the "next big lie" the GOP is pushing, kind of like how "the Dems are the REAL 'party of the rich'" was the last big lie.
Unfortunately, both parties are the parties of the rich, so the GOP wasn't and isn't lying. Grass roots Republicans are hardly the rich. Both parties draw people from a variety of demographics for entirely different reasons.

More group rights, more redistribution, less individual rights and responsibilities. Eight years of GW Bush resulted in more government controls, higher taxes, more programs, and in the beginning he had control of both houses of Congress just like Obama.
Originally posted by normbenign There was also little hope for the Democrats to push through a reactionary agenda like ACA, but it happened, and most Americans today hate it.

Both paties are rich Suzianne, or did you think that electing Obama was a grass roots effort?

The only real difference between the two party's is how the money flows.
Both oversee the down fall of the middle class and small business in the process.
