Can I “borrow” your fingers…and toes?🤔😲😉
@divegeester saidI miss him. He, and yourself, created the most interesting threads
… FMF
It seems pretty clear to me that FMF is gone for good since his bereavement. And whether you loved him or loathed him it is also now clear that he was without doubt one of, if not THE best poster in the two forums he frequented; General and Spirituality.
Thoughts?
@Russ saidAh ok, thank you.
Are you aware you can click the "Last post" link to jump straight to the last post when viewing a thread list?
As from the beta, it actually scrolls to the last post too rather than taking you to the correct page only (as it does currently.)
@Russ saidGot it 👍
@divegeester
The chevron "back" button will take you back up any hierarchical navigation (top left, under the logo). It will always take you back to thread's list, regardless of how you arrived at the posts.
I've been using the beta for a while, and it never occurred to me that it wasn't available in any other way as I'm using the back button now where it is available.
Give it a go, and if you are still wanting another dedicated button, I'll look at adding one.
@bigdogg saidGive up factory farmed meat and give a few turkeys a happy short life in your garden. They’ll taste much better with a stress free life 🐣
I place a pickup order online with my local grocery store, and they're out of the very thing that prompted me to make the order.
Of course, their website doesn't warn you about this in advance.
You're hanging your hopes on the idea that no one in-store will buy the last one before the pickup-compiler-person does.
And the order is locked down on the website, so I can' ...[text shortened]... n people 😲 😫 as I wait for the pickup order to come out.
Why do bad things happen to good people.
@kewpie saidThe world today seems a far more complicated world to grow up in.
We oldies just had radio, and even then people became alcoholics. Pile on cinemas, TV, internet, streaming services, mobile smartphones. It's impossible for a kid to grow up in any society (excepting maybe the Amish) without being constantly bombarded with advertising and propaganda, peddled by people whose lifeblood is money. What amazes me is that so many kids still manage to get through it and become mature, responsible adults.
@rajk999 saidNeglect, abuse, injury, separation or illness? It could be a anything really that has caused the child ongoing distress. It can result in a lack of resilience in coping with the day to day challenges of growing up which results in turning to substances or behaviours that bring a temporary comfort.
What would you say is the cause of childhood trauma?
@rajk999 saidThere are links between childhood trauma and addiction.
It would be worthwhile to try to deal with the root cause of addiction. All these addictions is a fairly recent thing. I would think that some of these causes are:
- weak parental control
- parents and society that have addictions themselves so they are in no position to correct neither can they lead by example
- too much free time among young people.
- boredom
@sonhouse saidThe exact date is after January 2009. As for enforcing it? I think young people may need to have to start carrying ID cards if they were born before 2009, to prove that they’re legally allowed to buy cigarettes.
@Drewnogal
What country do you live in? You mentioned kids born after 09 are prevented from buying tobacco forever? Sounds like a lawsuit to me.
Ah, Welch roads. Ok, UK then. Is that law real, stop kids smoking forever?
Sounds like a good idea if they could enforce it. Personally I hate tobacco, never smoke it and never will.
