I just want my strength back, and I ordered the same course I trained under. Do you think I can come back at 46 years old? I'm starting over.

Given improved training material out there, you might not be far off from your old strength.

But 10 years ago isn't that long.

I'm sure you will get there fast enough.

I agree a 10 year gap is not too long if he plays fellow 1600.players.

But if say a 2200 player tries a comeback and meets other 2200 players he will struggle..

Same course? Sounds like time for an upgrade imo.

Well he did say he played off a 1600 rating.

A rusty lad will be OK there. up at 2200 the players
are more booked up and play regular.

The better chess you see and are forced to play, the better your chess will be.

Lol, Lasker played it in the late 19th century. That's more than 10 years ago.

Yes you can! Be patient, and keep working at it. And if you plan to do it here on RHP, just remember to slow down and find good moves.
