Your opponent was quite helpful to you on moves 22 to 26. I wouldn't worry about missing the tidier finish given you were a queen to a knight up. I'm not convinced it was worth using two moves to defend the b-pawn, unless you'd anticipated that black might do what he did and give up his queen and were marking time to leave the captures on.
