This game finished a few minutes ago. Game 11429591
This position arose with me (White to play)
I really wanted to play 9.Be2 inviting him to castle.
If castles I do not have Qd5+ winning the c5 Bishop because of the Knight on e7.
It is a trap but it's to thin. His grade of 1800+ put me off.
If he was under 1500 I would have gone for it or if I was
forced to move my Bishop again I would gone for it.
But this silly retreat would have raised the hackles in any good player.
"What is he up to?"
I nearly did it because castle looks like the obvious reply and the lad
does has a load of other games on the go but it's a shoot-the bolt move.
If he spots it (and it's only a few moves deep) then I have nothing
from the opening except a struggle to prove Be2 was a good move.
In the end I went for an anti castling plan with Be3 and Bc4 and
although I won I would dearly have loved to (and should have) played 11.Be2.
I will not be able to look at myself in the mirror for the next few days.
The trap.
