Chess is a sea in which an elephant may bath and a gnat may drink if it doesn't see the elephant

Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make men very unhappy.

(It is better to have checked and lost than never the have checked at all.)

Chess is a foolish expedient for making idle people believe they are doing something very clever, when they are only wasting their time.

Nobody ever won a game by resigning. But they won a much better seat in the pub.

Why must I lose to this exceedingly clever person!

Chess is a fairy tale of 1001 brilliancy's.

    Chess is 99 percent endgames.

When you see a bad move wait, look for a worse one.

I've applied the last 30 years to forgetting most of what I learned or read. Now I totally suck.

I thought of Knightstalkers one not long after posting mine.

If you see a bad move, sit on your hands and find a worse one.

That seems to be the RHP motto. (I think I'll use that next blog.)

"I have only two words to say to you Herr Lasker, I resign."

"“A win by an unsound combination fills me with artistic delight.”

"Your passed pawns must never be pushed. Block them with your own pieces to stop them from advancing."

A chess game is divided into three phases: one where you hope to avoid a disadvantage, one where you think you're at a disadvantage, and one where you know you're going to win!
