I don't get the whole "thread closing" thing in the public forums. It's a bit of a private forum tactic which just doesn't work in the public forum. I mean why was the "Brexit" thread closed anyway...

Just a way of saying "That is enough of that, thank you, lets move on".
Exchanges of insults can be continued in the PM system, if that is what you want to do.

OK that thread had ran out of steam/was hijacked, but if the strategy is to cut out the exchange of insults you need to close 99% of threads in spirituality and debates. Hey, it's your site Russ and I respect your decisions, but I'm a paying customer and if I want play the Monty Python fish-slapping dance with Seitse, then I expect to be able to do so 😛
