    What is to be debated. I've brought up the Caribbean resentment of "African American'. Other black African Americans with real African heritage (1st generation) would rather be know by their tribal origins or national origins than by just African. I know an S. African woman who prefers to be known by her Zulu heritage than as S. African.

    In American english it was probably more descriptive to keep the designation black or even negro (derived from black).
