I got the father wrong (pass) and the move number he mated Byrne on
I recalled the magazine - I knew it was not a chess mag, so that left
Playboy or Sports Illustrated.

Who did he beat in 1972? (I bet that was one Knight Stalker got right.)

2/11 and I AM a Fischer fan. Ufff. I would have asked which candidates Fischer defeated leading up to the Spassky match. I'd have had 3/11. Answer hidden below:

Fischer's choice of reading material, outside of chess-specific literature, was peculiar to say the least. He was a fabulous chess player, but not what I'd call a well-rounded human being.

Yes indeed. Commentators in the analysis room were showing how Byrne was winning just as Fischer dropped the bombshell Q sac.

I was wondering how a chess engine would evaluate the position through the opening, after Byrne's slack bishop move, and at the other key positions. Anyone have that?
