[White "Bill216"]

[Result "*"]
[WhiteElo "1531"]

[ECO "?"]
1. c3 c5 2. d3 d5 3. Qc2 Nc6 4. e4 e5 5. h3 Nf6 6. Be2 Be7 7. Nf3 d4
{I didn't know what I should be doing out of this opening so I attempted to saddle white with a backwards d pawn.}
8. a3 a5 {played to prevent b4 but I believe that after b4 I can play ...dxc3}
9. a4 O-O 10. O-O b6 {to develop my bishop to a6} 11. Nh2 dxc3 12. bxc3
Ba6 13. Be3 Ra7 14. Na3 Rd7 15. Rfd1 Qb8 16. Nb5 Rfd8 17. Ng4 Ne8
{I intend to trade whites knight on b5 away then attack the new b5 pawn to induce c4 and route my knight to e6 eyeing the weakened d5 square}
18. Nh2 Bxb5 19. axb5 Na7 20. c4 Nc7 21. Bg4 Rd6 22. Nf3
{I think white missed an opportunity to play f4 here. I'm still kicking myself for missing this resource for white during the game. I didn't even realize until after the game that white should have been aiming for an f4 break.}
22... Bf6 23. Bg5 Bxg5 24. Nxg5 f6 25. Nf3 g6
{intending h5 to remove the bishop from its current diagonal in order to play ...Ne6}
26. Ne1 h5 27. Be2 Ne6 28. Nf3 Nd4
{I think this is wrong. I do not want to trade my well placed knight for his relatively useless one and I have more space on the kingside. I think ...R6d7 with the idea of ...Nc8-d6-f7 was correct}
29. Nxd4 Rxd4 30. Qc1 Kg7 31. h4 Nc8 32. Qe3 Nd6 33. Qg3 Rh8 34. f4 Kf7
{I lost concentration and feel apart here. In post mortem I decided I should play ...exf4, Qxf4 ...Nf7-e5 and if white decides to trade queens I think I'm better in the resulting endgame.}
35. fxe5 fxe5 36. Qxe5 Re8 37. Qf4+ Kg7 38. Qg3 Re5 39. Qxe5+
