    now gentle reader we know that there is no such thing as strategy v tactics in chess because a symbiotic relationship exists between both. However, the ancient military strategist stated,

    “Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” - Sun Tzu

    and its particularly this last clause that I am interested in, that is chess games where unbridled aggression and a tactical style without a strategic approach gets beaten back.

    For example, the game Anderson v Steintz has been proffered as one such game, but i am not entirely convinced that Anderson played without a strategy, simply that Steintz strategy was better. So if you know of any games where a pure tactical approach without strategy was defeated by a strategic approach please let me know - regards robbie
