Played some more KOTH today, starting to get the hang of it,
in fact today was the first time I managed to finish in the top 3 in a tournament 🙂
I'll show 2 games, the first being a quick mate
I played Black

1. e4 d5 2. exd5 c6 3. dxc6 Nxc6 {I noticed that Jerry from chessnetwork plays the Scandinavian a lot, so my attitude is "if it's good enough for him..."} 4. Nc3 e5 5. d3 Nf6 6. Nf3 Bg4 7. d4 e4 8. h3 exf3 9. hxg4 Qe7+ 10. Be3 Nxg4 11. gxf3 Nxe3 12. fxe3 Qxe3+ 13. Be2 Nxd4 14. Rh2 {OUCH! Something like Nd5 would have been better here, now it's forced mate} 14... Nxf3+ 15. Kf1 Qg1# { And Black's King never even budged... some game of 'King of the Hill' that turned out to be! } 0-1
The next one was more of a battle.
I have tried to include some quick analysis, although note that we was on 5min + 0sec time controls,
which is especially hard for me as I'm on a laptop, and those touchpad mice are not ideal!
I played Black again

1. d4 c5 {It is often a good idea to tempt your opponents central pawns away from the centre} 2. d5 {However this time White doesn't go for it} 2... Nf6 3. c4 e6 4. Bg5 exd5 5. Qxd5 Nxd5 6. Bxd8 Kxd8 7. cxd5 Ke7 8. e4 Kd6 {Threatening mate in one!} 9. f4 f5 {If e-pawn moves, Kxd5 is mate} 10. Bd3 c4 11. Bxc4 Kc5 {Threatening mate in one!} 12. Ne2 Kxc4 13. b3+ Kc5 14. b4+ Kxb4 15. Nd2 Kc5 16. Rc1+ Kd6 17. Nc4+ Ke7 {When is the last time YOU moved your King 7 times in a row within the first 20 moves of a chess game?} 18. e5 Nc6 19. Ng3 b5 20. Nxf5+ Kf7 21. Ncd6+ Bxd6 22. Nxd6+ Kg6 23. dxc6 dxc6 {White can actually get to the center here within 5 moves} 24. Rxc6 Bd7 25. Ra6 Rhf8 26. Rf1 Rad8 27. g4 {This is probably unsound, f5+ was stronger} 27... Bxg4 28. Rg1 {f5+ would still have been stronger here} 28... Rxd6 {Because now the f5 square is available} 29. Rxd6+ Kf5 30. Rd4 Rd8 {If Rb4, Black has a5} 31. Kf2 Rxd4 32. Ke3 Ra4 33. h3 Be2 34. Rg5+ Ke6 { White resigns... he cannot stop Kd5 } 0-1
A lot of fun 🙂 I highly recommend giving it a go... maybe we can have multiple RHP lads in the same tourney!
