It appears that now college is an entitement, only, the parents are the ones who have to pay.
it's incredible how idiotic the online media has become. in about 10 articles about this story, not one was able or willing to give a single legal reason why the parents should pay the entitled little ashole her college tuition.
the fact that a judge can wake up one morning and decide "today i am gonna set up 5 legal precedents unsubstantiated by actual law and just because i fukin want to" is insane.
the courts will not intervene in many states to force doctors to give life saving transfusions to jehovah's witnesses' children, just now there is a thread about children dying in idaho because of cult psychos using only faith healing. but a judge will force 2 adults to give money to another adult.

that's not the concerning part.
the bigger issue here is how, as far as i know, this decision has no legal basis other than a precedent set in the 80's. the problem here is how a judge is allowed to set up these kinds of precedents.

Moreover, these sites are all too ready to opine without there being a site that presents the text of the judge's decision or even a relevent quote from it (that I can find). Confirmation bias, anyone? On its face it seems like bad law, but that's no more an informed judgement than anyone else's here.
These opinion-leaders should publish the decision.

For those who have a financial need, college can be free or almost free in the US too. Pell grants can cover close to what is needed for an in-state public college education. There are also many inexpensive alternative options for those who want them.
It's just people who insist on going to expensive schools that have the problem.

again, not the issue here.
i don't care much whether she wanted 100k a year for harvard (or whatever the fee is) or 100$ a year for Hicksville's Hillbily University (Trademark).
the issue that is most important here is how a judge (adult) forced 2 adults to pay for another adult's bills. and, until someone can prove otherwise, how a judge made this decision without any law to back it up (other than another judge making a similar decision)
